1- Do not walk with your shoes in the house!
House in Japan usually have a small space before entering the house called 'genkan'. It is a place where guests get to remove their shoes, and house slippers are usually given by the house owner to move in the house.
Bonus: At most places, there are even special slippers for bathroom as well
2- Do not use talk on the phone in the train and keep them on silent mode.
Talking on the phone while on the train or not keeping them on silent mode is considered very rude in Japan!
3- Kanto elevator: always keep left, Kasai elevator: Keep right
Kanto(Tokyo): Always keep on your left while taking the escalator if you are not passing! the right lane are for passing.
Kansai(Osaka): Oppositely, stay on your right on the escalator, and proceed to the left to pass
4- Wash yourself before dipping into the Onsen
Before proceeding yourself into the Onsen, Japanese people usually wash themselves before entering into the tub. So don't forget to clean yourself up!
5- Dont eat or drink while walking
With our usual busy lifestyles,we are usually used to walk while eating something on-the-go.In Japan, it is considered rude for doing that, so be careful!
I hope you find this guide helpful! Despite these few not to do things list, do not forget to enjoy yourself while in Japan! See you guys soon!
